Why Microsoft Is Not A Monopoly Essays - Microsoft, Monopoly

Why Microsoft Is Not A Monopoly Monopoly? Is Microsoft actually a monopoly? No, they are not. They dont force you to buy their products, they are not the only company out there, and even though they are the most used, people do have many other choices. Who makes you buy a product? No company makes you buy their products. If any company made you buy a product of theirs it would be bad business, and no one would buy from them. Nobody is holding a gun to your head saying , Buy my product or I will blow your head off. If anyone did do that they would be put in jail. If you buy from another company, your computer will not explode; in fact the only company that does make you buy their products is Compaq, and even then the computer wont explode it just will not work. A lot of people think that they have to upgrade to a different product or their computer will not work. That is misleading. If an upgrade is mandatory it will be free. Any upgrade you have to buy is just a preference that is not needed. There are many other companies that do force people to buy their products. Other companies that do force you to buy their products arent widely used in a home situation. The reason they arent used at home very much is because nobody likes to be pressured into something. Many companies make products that are compatible with Microsoft or another companys products. The reason people dont think there are any other companies is because they hear about a product and are too lazy to look for an alternative. Microsoft does want to make a lot of money for themselves. Who doesnt? Windows is very easy to learn. Operating systems used to be very hard to learn. When Microsoft came out with the Windows operating system it was very easy to use. The reason I am pointing this out is because people dont want to make their lives harder than it needs to be. Microsoft makes the easiest operating system to use on a PC, and that is what makes it popular. It is not because they buy out other companies or because they make you use their products. Microsoft is not a monopoly; the problem is that most people are just too lazy to look for another company. If people actually tried to find other products it wouldnt take them very long at all. So, anyone who claims Microsoft is a monopoly needs to take a look at the facts. If everyone looked at the facts with knowledge about their products, they would see that they are free to choose. Having people that have little or no knowledge about computers and computer products, besides turning them on or installing something, is like putting a child the age of five on a jury. Its not fair to Microsoft especially, but it is also unfair to the people because if you hurt the company, it hurts the customers. Computers and Internet

Naming Babies

Naming Babies Naming Babies Naming Babies By Maeve Maddox Throughout history, cultures have attached great importance to names. In some cultures people, like cats, have secret names known only to themselves. Most parents I know spent hours, days, even months writing down possible names, doing the best to ensure that their final choice would go with their surname and that the child’s initials wouldn’t spell out a word that could provoke ridicule. American culture may not place the same value on the naming rite as some others. If you watched the movie Pulp Fiction, you may remember what one of the characters says about the meaninglessness of American names. Nevertheless I was astounded to read that in 1994 in New York City, 2,516 baby girls were named Female. In that same year, 3,639 baby boys received the name Male. Their parents hadn’t bothered to give them a name, so the sex designated on their papers was recorded as the given name. Although some of the parents later provided genuine names, many of the children grew up with names pronounced [fuh-MAHL-ee] and [MAH-lee], respectively. Some countries have laws that curb excessive imagination in naming newborns. The United States is not one of them. American celebrities tend to choose unusual names for their offspring. For example: Indiana August Moses Amadeus Satchel Seamus Seven Sirius Apple Zowie Some non-celebrities go further: Hippo Jedi Thunder Popeye Espn Google Burger Vanille J’Adore Shoog Despite names like these, a glance at the most popular names given to babies in the United States decade by decade reveals that traditional names have staying power. Good old-fashioned â€Å"Mary† remained in the top three until the 1970s; â€Å"Michael† made it into the 21st century. Here are the top three name choices for boys and girls (Social Security statistics) for each decade since 1930: 1930 Boys: Robert, James, John Girls: Mary, Betty, Barbara 1940 Boys: James, Robert, John Girls: Mary, Barbara, Patricia 1950 Boys: James, Robert, John Girls: Linda, Mary, Patricia 1960 Boys: David, Michael, James Girls: Mary, Susan, Linda 1970 Boys: Michael, James, David Girls: Jennifer, Lisa, Kimberly 1980 Boys: Michael, Christopher, Jason Girls: Jennifer, Amanda, Jessica 1990 Boys: Michael, Christopher, Matthew Girls: Jessica, Ashley, Brittany 2000 Boys: Jacob, Michael, Matthew Girls: Emily, Hannah, Madison The tide seems to be turning. Birth Control in Schools Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Birth Control in Schools - Essay Example The lack of opportunity and greater disorganization in some minority communities in this country, teens in schools with higher percentages of minority students are also more likely to have higher pregnancy rates than teens in schools with lower percentages of minority(Manlove, 1998).. Students in these studies, it is often difficult to distinguish the impact of school character from the impact of the community characteristics in which they reside. Social scientists and educators have suggested a wide variety of explanations for how schools reduce sexual risk-taking behavior. Some of their explanations have observed research supporting them, while others are credible, but lack supporting research. For example, educators concerned with adolescent sexual behavior have suggested that: 2. Schools increase interaction with and attachment to adults who discourage risk-taking behavior of any kind (e.g., substance use, sexual risk-taking, or accident-producing behavior). More generally, they create an environment which discourages risk-taking. 3. Schools affect selection of friends and larger peer groups that are important to them. Because peer norms about sex and contraception significantly influence teens' behavior, this impact on schools may be substantial. However, just how schools affect selection of friends and peers is not clearly understood.4. Schools can increase belief in the future and help youth plan for higher education and careers. Such planning may increase the motivation to avoid early childbearing. As noted above, multiple studies demonstrate that educational and career aspiration are related to use of contraception, pregnancy, and childbearing.5. Schools can increase students' self-esteem, sense of competence, communication and refusal skills. These skills may help students avoid unprotected sex. Despite the growing strength of the abstinence movement across the country, large majorities of adults favor SEX and AIDS education that includes discussions of condoms and contraceptives. For example, a 1998 poll of American adults found that 87% thought birth control should be covered (Rose & Gallup, 41-53), a 1998 poll found that 90% of adults thought condoms should be covered (Haffner & Wagoner, 22-23)and another 1999 poll found that 82% of adults believed all aspects of sex education including birth control and safer sex should be taught . (Hoff, Greene, McIntosh, Rawlings, & D'Amico, 2000). Given both the need for effective educational programs and public support for such programs, schools have responded. According to a 1999 national survey of school teachers in grades 7 to 12, about 93% of their schools offered sexuality or HIV education (Darroch, Landry, & Singh, 204-211, 265). Of those schools teaching any topics in sexuality education, between 85% and 100% included instruction on consequences of teenage parenthood, STD, HIV/AIDS, abstinence, and ways to resist peer

Seminar issues in hospital Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Seminar issues in hospital - Term Paper Example The perspective of fundraising was often done based on the bond market within a very short period of time. The Intermountain hospital’s level of market share has constantly remained consistent at an average value since its formation. IHC has mostly been a subject to a greater review by the primary Utah State Legislature simply because of the firm’s non-profit objective and the ownership of almost 21 out of its 60 hospitals. The competitor’s proposals to force the Intermountain organization to sell off the hospital or the insurance components with regards to an organization are fruitless. In the year 2005, the State Legislature went to the extent of hiring an external research firm so as to review the Utahs healthcare system. As much as the independent professionals failed to address the challenges that face Utahs healthcare venture, the researchers conclude that the substantial evidence tend to exist with the aim of supporting the ultimate conclusion that the Utahs health-care premises are performing in a competitive manner (Baker & Denis, 2012).The ultimate intervention by this Legislature towards promoting competition within these entire markets is unnecessary. The study gave an ultimate recommendation that this kind of legislature should refrain from creation of more rules and regulations. Intermountain Health Care is a leader in the clinical quality enhancement for almost a decade. It has an incorporated delivery system that is based in the Salt Lake City, and consists of a number of hospitals. Its cognitive efforts of injury reduction because of medical complications has led to the production of the most remarkable gains based on the effected program. The outcomes of the IHC has also pioneered innovative approaches to quality improvement that has enhanced diabetic patients, those with pneumonia, as well as those with respiratory failure, have been duly witnessed on various perspectives

Sources of finance for British Airways

Sources of finance for British Airways British Airways Plc is an international schedule airline. The main activities of British Airways Plc are the operation of international and domestic scheduled air services for the carriage of the passengers, freight and mail and the provision of ancillary services. The Companys principal place of business is London with presence at Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airport. The Company also operates a worldwide air cargo services. The Company flies more than 300 destinations worldwide. The Company supports the United Kingdom economy by providing vital leisure travel for holidays and family reunion. Outcome 1: Sources of Finance: Lack of cash is one of the biggest problems facing a business. Business would not be able to survive without cash. There are various sources of finance to activate the company. Different sources of finance apply to different circumstances. Funds are available from internal as well as external sources of finance. But each source has some advantages and disadvantages. Figure: 1 Internal sources Internal sources of finance usually have the advantage that they are flexible. They may also be obtained quickly and need not require the compliance of the other parties. Retained Profit: According to Gitman (2008)The accumulated net income that has been retained for reinvestment in the business rather than paid out in the dividends to stock holders. The amount of profit which left in the business after paying tax and distribution to stock holders that is retained profit. This money can be used for the expansion or investment of the business. When a company makes profit it does not spend it, it keeps it to use for company development or the owner can think to keep it for any future difficulties. BA had been making lots of profit for long time, it did not spend all the profits. BA has lots of Retained profit which it can use now as the company is not doing well at present. Sale of New Shares: New shares or ordinary shares form the backbone of the financial structure of a business. When BA needs fund then BA can sell their shares to the public. To sell new shares BA needs the services of agency, normally Merchant Bank. There are some problems with this source of finance like the existing shareholders might object to sale the shares to the outsiders. Right Issues: According to Atrill (2008) New stock (share) issue offered to existing stockholders (shareholders) in promotion to their current stock/shareholding, for a specific period and at a specified (usually discounted) price. Rather than taking debt, BA can ask its existing shareholders to buy some new shares to provide extra capital. This type of issue gives the shareholders the right to purchase new shares at a discount price to the market and give the existing shareholders the opportunity to increase their stock. When the companies are in trouble, especially when the companies are unable to borrow more money they usually use right issue to pay the debt. But there are some problems of right issue, such as -the value of share will be deducted so that the numbers of share can be increased. Secondly it is not certain that shareholders always getting a bargain as there is no opportunity to compare the market value. External Sources: Leasing: Leasing is like renting a piece of equipment or machinery. The business pays a regular amount for a period of time, but the item belongs to the leasing company. Leasing is cheaper than buying equipment but it is good for the short term. It also useful when the technology changes very quickly, so that it can be regularly updated and replaced. It also makes the cash flow management easy because the payment is done regularly. There are some disadvantages of leasing; it becomes very expensive for the long term because the leasing company charge fees which makes the total cost of the company greater than the original cost. Hire purchase: Business hires machineries or equipments for a period of time for which the company makes some fixed regular payments. When the fixed payment is finished the company becomes the owner of that equipment or machinery. The difference between the hire purchase and leasing is that in case of hire purchase after finishing the fixed payment the company becomes the owner of the equipment but in case of leasing the company never becomes owner, Burton and Brown (2009). Preference Share: Preference shares offer investor a lower risk than ordinary shares, provided there are sufficient profit available. Preference shares normally give a fixed rate of dividend each year and when there is any payment of dividend then the preference shareholders will be paid first. Recommendations: The most appropriate source of finance to fund the expansion and other operating activities of British Airways Plc depends on whether it is for short-term or long-term, and also on the cost and speed of arranging the finance. The internal sources of finance can be obtained quickly particularly from working capital source- and need not require the compliance of other parties, so for example, if British Airways needs to arrange fund within sort time then internal sources are appropriate, if the company needs funds for short term then the bank overdraft or loans are appropriate. However it is advisable that the company should always think about a mixture of sources. Outcome 2 Investment appraisal: One of the most important long-term decisions for any business relates to investment. According to Ennew and Waite (2007) Investment is the purchase or creation of assets with the objective of making gain in the future. Typically investment involves using financial sources to purchase machine/building or other assets for the purpose of getting returns over a period of time. The six stages of investment appraisal: Figure: 1 Project identification: British Airways need to find new opportunities for investment, generating ideas for new business development to survive and to grow the company wider. Screening for strategic fit: A lot of project could create value for a company but not for other. For selecting a particular project British airways must have to be aware of whether they need more capital and whether they have experience and skill for service Analysing in detail the implication of accepting the project: British Airways need to concern about the incriminated cash flows that could be generated by the project. For this process they need to consider the capital assets, cost, time, scale of operation and so on. Project evaluation: For this process British airways need to calculate various number of appraisal from the cash flows forecasts. Accept/ reject decision: Sometimes British airways take decision in the first stage then evaluate the project, otherwise after evaluation they decide whether to accept or reject the project. Ex-post decision review: British airways should draw lessons from the project that goes wrong and the project that goes right. Common appraisal measures which are used in British airways are as follows: Payback Period (PP) Average Rate of Return (ARR) Net Present Value (NPV) Internal Rate of Return (IRR) Payback Period: According to Gitman (2008) Literally Payback is the amount of time required for the cash inflows from a capital investment in a project to equal the cash outflows. Payback periods are commonly used to estimate proposed investment and often used as an initial screening method. Payback period = Initial payment / annual cash flow So, if  £500 m is invested with the aim of earning  £700 m per year (net cash earnings), the payback period is calculated thus: P =  £500 m = 5years The shorter the payback period the better the investment. If there are two or more competing projects that are both shorter than the maximum payback period requirement then the decision maker should select the project with shorter payback period. Because using that project managers can recoup their cost within short time. Payback is perhaps the simplest method of looking at one or more investment project or ideas. Payback is popular because it is simply understandable and easy to calculate Payback uses cash flow not the profit and therefore it is difficult to manipulate. Average Rate of Return (ARR): According to Glautier (2001) The rate of earning obtained on the average capital investment over the life of a capital project; computed as average annual profits divided by average investment; not based on case flow. The average rate of return expresses the profits arising from a project as a percentage of the initial capital cost. The ARR method takes the average accounting profit; the investment will generate and expresses it as a percentage of the average investment met over the life of the process. Average annual profit ARR = ÃÆ'- 100 Average investment For example, British airways invested  £25m and expected to generate total revenues of  £50m for 5 years over the project. So  £50m à · 5 ARR = ÃÆ'- 100  £25 ARR = 40% Like payback method, ARR is also simple to understand and easy to calculate. There is also a link with some accounting measure that is commonly used. The Average Rate of Return is similar to the return of capital Employed in its construction; this may make the ARR easier for business planners to understand. The ARR is expressed in percentage terms and this also the manager easy to use. The ARR doesnt take into account of the project duration or the timing of cash flows over the course of the project. The concept of profit is very subjective and there is variation in accounting practice thats why ARR calculation would likely be different for identical project. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR): According to Shapiro (2003) The IRR is the annual percentage return achieved by a project, at which the sum of discounted cash flows over the life of the project is equal to the sum of the capital invested. Another way is that the IRR is the rate of interest that reduces the NPV to zero. Net Present Value (NPV): According to Dunn and Kilgour (2009) The Net Present Value (NPV) is an investment (project) is the difference between the sums of the discounted cash flows which are expected from the investment and the amount which is initially invested. It is the first traditional valuation method used in the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) measurement methodology. NPV is calculated by using a discount rate equivalent to the interest which would be received, or interest to be paid by the firm. Rt NPV = (1+i)t Here, Rt = net cash Flow i = interest rate t = time NPV technique is mostly used by the managers because it is very easy to calculate. When the NPV is positive it means the project is worthwhile. So if there are more than one appraisal then the project should be selected which produces the highest NPV. But the biggest problem for NPV is that a project may have more than one IRR, if the company adopt IRR similar project and invest based on previous IRR which may not be appropriate. Outcome 3: Performance analysis for British Airways: After completing the proposed investment project it is the time to evaluate the performance analysis of British Airways: Figure:1 Non-financial: Balanced score-card: According to Norton and Kaplan (2009) The balance scorecard is a strategic and management system that is used extensively in business industry, government and non-profit organizations worldwide to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications and monitor or organize performance against strategic goals. The balanced scorecard has evolved from its early use as simple performance measurement framework to a full strategic planning and management system. 12manage.com Financial Ratio analysis: British Airways produces annual and monthly financial statements to comply with record keeping requirement of the company. According to Gitman (2008) Financial ratio analysis and balanced sheet analysis ids incorporate in the financial scorecard tool, to provide a unique picture of a companys financial position 12manage.com Profitability ratio: The Profitability ratio is used to check that the company is generating an acceptable return for its owners. Gross profit margin: Gross profit represents the difference between sales value and the cost of the sales. Therefore it is a measure of profitability in buying and selling goods. Net profit margin: The net profit ratio represents the profit from trading operation before any cost of servicing long term finances are taken into account. ROCE: ROCE is considered to be a primary measure of profitability. It compares inputs (capital invested) with outputs (profit). Profitability of British Airways is growing every year that means the company is doing well and the profitability is better than Rayne Air in 2008. Liquidity Ratio: It is important for a business to be profitable, but profit is not sufficient on its own to guarantee survival. There must be sufficient liquid assets available to be forced into liquidation. Current Ratio: The current ratio is a measure of companys ability to meet its short time debts. This is important because the company could run out of cash and can be forced into liquidation even if it was making profit. Quick Assets Ratio (Acid Test Ratio): This ratio concentrates on those current assets which are immediately available to pay the creditors as and when they fall due. Total current assets are more than liabilities for British Airways in every year that means company doing well in compare to Rayne Air British Air is in better position. Efficiency Ratio: The efficiency Ratio gives an insight into the effectiveness of the companys management of the components of working capital. In year 2006 British Airways received payment within 30 days but the company made payment within 34 days, which is good for the company because the company made payment 4 days after receiving payment, other years also same situation. This is also comparatively better than Rayne Air.

Homicide Trends, Prevention, Intervention in Atlanta Essay -- Social

Introduction Homicide has been in existence since the beginning of time. People kill each other daily. In the United States, you are ten-times more likely to be murdered on the day you’re born than any other time in your life (CDC, 2002). For that reason, today’s research suggest that homicide events should not be considered single incidents but as underlying indicators of changes in social and economic conditions including: race, poverty, and social isolation (Parker 2004) and the distribution of handguns (Ludwig & Cook, 2003). Yet, a vast majority of criminal homicides offer very little understandings. In 2010 there was 12,996 homicides in the United States (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2010). Ninety-three of those homicides occurred in the Atlanta area (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2010). For that reason, the heightened incidence of criminal and violent behavior in recent years has become a major concern across the Atlanta area. Several things are thought to be factors of homicide. Some factors include race, demographic, poverty, and the social organization of people. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (2009), â€Å"blacks are disproportionately represented as both homicide victims and offenders. In 2010, blacks in Atlanta represented 54% percentage of the population (U.S. Census Bureau, 2010) but 86% percent of the homicide victims (Atlanta Police Department Uniform Crime Report, 2010). Hence, one of the most consistent findings reported in the criminology literature is that African Americans in the United States are involved in criminal homicide both as offenders and victims at a rate that significantly exceeds their numbers in the general population (Bartol & Bartol, 2007). Nevertheless, in many case... ...rected patrols, and the guns for tickets within high crime areas of The City of Atlanta, homicide rates will decrease Summary This paper has demonstrated how the analysis of homicide patterns in Atlanta could be use to develop and recommend interventions for communities impacted by increase homicides. However, the success of any of the recommended interventions depends upon the good relations between the police and citizens of Atlanta. Also, since most homicides are impulsive not forethought, it is unlikely that the strategies impose would mitigate the homicide rates. It is possible, although difficult to envision, that all strategies against homicide would alter behavior of offenders and thereby reduce violent situations. Conversely, by reducing the number of persons carrying firearms on the streets of Atlanta homicide will coincide be reduced as well.

My Belief

Jounal What is My Belief? Belief is something inspirational that encourages others to progress and work towards self-improvement. That is especially important for today’s youth and can play an important role in shaping our society. Beliefs can influence a young one’s values, conviction, and attitudes, which will shape the person that one will grow to be. That has the ability to focus that efforts on others rather than on themselves and inspire others not only by their words, but more so by it actions that move us to do the same.Beliefs help others by offering good examples, by inspiring others realize the endless possibilities to reach our goals, and by moving others to be the best that I can be. In my opinion, parents are the most effective and influential role models in the lives of their children. The youth of society can learn from, and aspire to be like their parents as they are being reared in their childhood years. Fathers and mothers strive to teach their childr en important values and beliefs as well as demonstrate attitudes and behaviors considered appropriate and beneficial for society’s well-being.Something that has been the strong belief in my life is love of my parents as family. Because my role models are my parents and they possess the quality of good parents. I know they are not perfect, but they carry the virtue and quality of a parent that everyone could wish for. My parents are very responsible, good providers, committed to their duties and responsibilities, loving and determined in pursuing their plans to nurture us with good values and norms so that we will became responsible, well-disciplined, and God-loving. And they also taught us to love others, as we grow old.Now I want to explain several lessons about why the loves of my parents are strong belief to me. First of all, I remember when I was young, my parents made sure that they provided us with what we needed and they do their best, even in the midst of hardships. E specially, my dad has always taught me that I have to work my hardest for whatever I want in life. My dad had me with his wife, my mother, when he was twenty-five. My parents had very little money to raise me on their own, so my dad went to work right away to help support his family. He gave up all his freedom and the fun on a young’s life to help support his family. My dad has been working at least two jobs at a time since the age of twenty-five. They didn’t stop or even pause in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities as parents they always seek a solution or find ways to keep our life better and meaningful. Second, my parents always show and teach us the good values so that we can past it on to the next generation. They are always there to support us in our endeavor and in pursuing our dreams. They are very supportive especially when I need to decide on my own, they are always there on my side, not to be hindered in my plans but instead to give advice and support that I needed most. At a point when I was failing in a subject of 12th standard, third, as I was not very good in academics. My parent then had a long conversation with me about life; they told me that it would be smarter if I will study hard because it would be easier for me to get a job and earn more money, and that this was the best way I could help the family. They always tell us about what they went through because of not having the chance to concentrate on studies at all and â€Å"Only you can change your life. No one can do it for you†. By telling us this, they want us to take advantage of what we have to have a better future. But what got my parents to where they is today was not from being lazy by no means but working hard and driving himself to become something better than what they was and to achieve them dreams. My parents don’t only give advice about having a good future but also about morals. They always tell us that if I order for people to respect us, we have to respect them at all times. To him having good morals is really important because not only does it make us do the right thing but also they will help us succeed in life. Therefore, I should thank God for met my parents. Fourth, my parents are a real understanding person. they gives me the best advice I can get and that is why I think my parents have given me the best emotional support I can receive. My parents have also been the best role model for me.They have thought me not to worry about what others might think or say about me, as long as I’m doing the right thing. They have shown me that being humble and warm hearted could win more love then being filled with superficial materials. They also teach me to stand up for what I believe in no matter what the case is. They have though me that no mountain is high enough. Those are a few reasons why they are an excellent role model in my life. In conclusion, here are some of the reasons on how my parents have impacted my l ife and how the love made an impact in society too.My parents are my role model because I want to be like them, the way they nurtured me. And my parents have also taught me that to be a person in the future, it will give other the hope and desire by saying it ‘I can do it so you can’, my parents make sure that they are on my side in every step of the way of our life. To me the love of my parents are my strongest beliefs because I want to be like them, the way they nurtured us. Furthermore, they always tell me that if I order for people to respect us we have to respect them at all times. This saying always makes me strong.

Angola Essays - Capital Punishment In Louisiana, Free Essays

Angola Essays - Capital Punishment In Louisiana, Free Essays Angola I feel that Angola prison system is a very effective correction system. The video demonstrated how the system has different setups to keep the prisoners working to keep them out of trouble. Although Angola is a rough maximum-security system, it seems to have great control over the inmates. The atmosphere of Angola is rough, but has great control over the inmates, which keeps it safe in its own unusual way. By keeping all the inmates working with different jobs, they have less violence. By giving the inmates jobs, they hold a certain responsibility so they stay out of trouble to keep these jobs. This is proven in one way because the prisoners are out in fields with sharp objects, which could lead to violence and even escape. Since the prisons hold the responsibilities they do there job and stay out of trouble. I do not think they could escape because the surroundings are rough so they could not get out. Inside the prison IM sure it is the same as other prisons with gangs and violence, but the difference is the working there. Another thing that helps Angola is the prison rodeos they hold. This is why prisoners one time out of the year hold a rodeo. They are suited up and ride the bulls and wild horses for fun and for a show for the public. Only the inmates with good records are allowed to do this, so to keep this privilege the prisoners keep good conduct. This is another responsibility left on the prisoners just like the jobs. These are a few reasons I feel Angola atmosphere is great for a maximum security prisons. If more prisons would use this setup of jobs and privileges, they could lower their violence. If I had the chance to change something in Angola, I do not think I would change anything. It seems to be setup and ran well the way it is. Although there is still some violence, drugs, and rape inside the walls, that cannot be changed because that is just part of a prison system. The so-called Responsibility system at Angola is ran well and I do not thing it needs to be changes. These are some reasons I feel Angolas prison system is effective and do not need to be changed. The atmosphere of Angola although it is very tough it is very calm for a maximum-security prison and more prisons should use the set up for a background to base theirs off of.

From the Classicists to the Impressionists essay

From the Classicists to the Impressionists essay From the Classicists to the Impressionists essay From the Classicists to the Impressionists essayThe development of the modern art raises quite a controversial response in the public because the public cannot always perceive experiments of artists properly and just misunderstands works of art. In this respect, the ability of artists to catch the audience’s attention and to create comprehensive and attractive works of art are particularly important in terms of the development of new works of art attractive and comprehensible for the audience. At this point, it is possible to refer to the Art Now! Course and Christine Swintak, who reveals her vision of the modern art and works of artist. The author suggest making art closer to people and the mass audience making daring experiments, when conventional, routine objects and items are transformed by artists in true works of art.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   At this point, the author’s position is reasonable, especially, when she draws a large number of works a rt, when conventional products are transformed by artists, like a banal rollercoaster made in the head office of an energy drink company. The modern art has evolved consistently   and artists tend to experiments. Daring experiments proposed by Christine Swintak are effective because they make the audience rethinking conventional objects and items and transforming them into works of art. Due to such work of artists, they can make the audience thinking of art and view art in simple things, which surround them in their regular life. In such a way, artists reach their target customer group and communicate with the audience by means of their works.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Furthermore, today, the audience needs the help from the part of the artist to understand art better. In this regard, the poor communication of artists with their audience emerges because of their underperformance and failure to catch the public attention and create works of art that are attractive and interesting for the audience. In addition, the artist should create works of art that are close to the audience. In this regard, the use of conventional objects as Swintak suggests can be really helpful because the audience learns to find art in routine objects. Moreover, such experiments in the field of art help artists to reach their audience and increase the interest of the public to art. Therefore, art becomes the means of communication between the artist and the audience.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   At the same time, experiments should convey specific messages and ideas, which the artist attempts to convey to the audience. In this regard, the development of comprehensible forms of art may lead to the simplification of art. Hence, the problem emerges. Artists may slip to the simplification of art, i.e. make the art too simplistic, in their attempts to get closer to the audience and attract the audience to works of art. However, works of art should remain wor ks of art that means that they should not become simplistic because of the level of audience. Instead, they should teach the audience and help the audience to elevate their aesthetic tastes to the higher level. Thus, Swintak is reasonable in her views on art getting closer to the audience, but she should be aware of the fact that attempts of approaching the public may lead to simplification of works of art. In such a way, artists should help the audience to understand their art and makes their art interesting but still remain artists, who create works of art but not works that just entertain the audience.

Introduction to Business Law Bachelor - Essay Example Now in Texas, the total family property is protected by this clause which many other mortgage paying homeowners balk at, saying it is an unfair act and also discriminatory based on state residencies. Many families face financially hard times with no clause to fall back on so they feel it's unjust and morally biased that others are offered, what appears too many to be, a hand out, down the easy financial highway. Also, it is widely known that corporate CEO's or other distinguished people have, in the past, purchased homes way above their heads, eventually falling into debt, and as well, in behind on their mortgages; then facing judgments. Consequentially, they spend their remaining funds unwisely, making unnecessary purchases and then expect to be allowed to lean on the Homestead Act for support and protection of their remaining assets. This type of behavior is one of greediness and self absorption, a characteristic that makes other homeowners, struggling to pay their bills, despise t he Homestead Act ever being substantiated. On the other hand, when the clause was first implemented and recognized back in 1839, its purpose was honest and solely for the integrity of keeping a family
